Un-Development at Metabolic Studio

Tour Metabolic Studio, a living laboratory in Downtown Los Angeles, on a site adjacent to the Los Angeles River, dedicated to soil regeneration, seed preservation, and bioremediation, mitigating the sixth mass extinction by reactivating buried landscapes. The tour will be hosted by the studio's founder Lauren Bon and Community Liaisons Andrea Martinez and Kelly Majewski. Bon is an American environmental artist and activist and a 2025 Guggenheim Fellow in Fine Arts. Her practice, Metabolic Studio, explores self-sustaining and self-diversifying systems of exchange that feed emergent properties that regenerate the life web. Among her studio's ambitious projects are Bending the River, which moves a portion of water from the LA River through a native wetland treatment and redistributes it to local parks; and FarmLab, which explores the powerful connection between art, ecology, and community.
