Sunday, June 29 Open Day at Garden of Greg and Kathy

Our garden is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. A mix of formal and informal, the garden is divided into rooms filled with annuals, perennials, tropicals, and lots of containers for added interest. Trees including magnolias, stewartias, dogwoods, and others are among the mix. Entering through a yew hedge on the west side, one is greeted by a large bowl made from Vermont marble. On either side are two borders with a mix of perennials and shrubs. Four boxwood anchor this space. Stepping down through a hornbeam hedge, the visitor will enter into the back garden. To the right is a mixed border with a large terracotta pot containing a Red Abyssinian banana as a focal point. A small vegetable garden and area for pollinators sits in the middle of the garden. This is backed by a large privet hedge. Further along is a stone wall with a collection of pots featuring tender perennials. Passing under a rustic arbor covered with a climbing rose and clematis, there is a room with borders on three sides. In the middle are two square beds, one with a large terracotta pot surrounded by annuals and the other contains a catalpa tree trained into a standard Nearby is a small sitting area that is home to a collection of fuchsias and begonias. In the far right corner sits the tool/potting shed. More pots and chairs for sitting can be found here. The back garden is overlooked by a bluestone terrace filled with colorful pots and a formal fountain under a wisteria.

This garden’s estimated size is 1/3 acre.
