About

Gardening is an art form, and as an experimental gardener with an eclectic artistic eye, I welcome you to enjoy a mix of traditional and exotic plantings with upcycled collectibles and whimsical artifacts. My front garden surrounded by a nicely aged wood fence includes a bevy of bird cages that are home to rare orchids, Tillandsia air plants, and other flora placed among natural material displays. You’ll discover hidden garden niches that might be framed by religious iconography, light-hearted kitschy displays, or reclaimed foreign culture mementos. The garden is the result of 30 years of trial and error, with an artistic passion for color and surprise that showcase my Ecuadorian heritage and the possibilities in being patient with nature. You can also enjoy the popular public space outside my Garden fence, filled with new projects that have been my focus of late - the “Pig Farm” set amongst a massive eucalyptus grove, the “House of Color” that brings a traditional art display to our street, and the “Kiddie’s Triangle”, a colorful respite for young and old who wander by the property when taking the Fair St. steps up Bernal Hill.

Gardener's Note: Garden is on a steep incline on Prospect. There are steps & irregular pavers in the garden. Limited mobility patrons will have extreme difficulty.
